Below is a breakdown of some key tools you may use to provide comments, suggestions, edits, and notes within a PDF document. This does not cover the complete capabilities of the Acrobat Pro XI software, for additional information or guidance on additional features please visit the Acrobat User Guide.
Accessing Comment Tools
Step 1: Open the PDF you are looking to provide comments/suggestions on using the Adobe Acrobat XI application
Step 2: On the right-hand side you will see a horizontal menu at the top of the window, select the "Comment" tab to reveal the commenting tools
Step 3: You should now see the "Comment" tools appear below the commenting tab you just selected
Step 4: You can begin commenting on the document using each tool, below is a breakdown of each "Comment" tool and how it works
Popular Comment Tools
Add sticky note: this tool will let you click on a location in the document and then add a comment regarding that specific location, the user will see the note when they hover over the little yellow sticky note icon
Highlight text: this tool will let you select text to highlight it
*NOTE: For additional commenting tools select the "Drawing Markups" list below the previous tools
Insert text box: this tool will let you draw a box anywhere on the document that you can then type your own text into it
Use drawing tool: this tool will turn your mouse cursor into a pencil so you can freehand draw and write on the document, click and hold to begin drawing
Erase drawing: this tool will turn your mouse cursor into an eraser so you can freehand erase anything you wrote or drew using the drawing tool, click and hold to begin erasing
