This support solution will show you how to update a PowerPoint presentation setting so that it won't take over your entire display. This is most relevant when you are using dual monitors and want to be able to control which screen the presentation resides on while keeping your second display available for a Zoom window and/or additional documents, notes, etc.

Note: This is a setting you will update within each individual PowerPoint file. You can choose to do this prior to your Zoom meeting or during it, that will not have an effect on how this works. Additionally, this setting is specific to that presentation and will have to be updated for each individual presentation you might use during a Zoom meeting.

Step 1: Open the PowerPoint file you will be sharing during the Zoom meeting

Step 2: In the top menu select the "Slide Show" tab

Step 3: In the menu that appears, select the "Set Up Slide Show" option

Step 4: A group of options will appear, you will want to adjust the "Show type" to be "Browsed by an individual (window)"

Step 5: Once that option is selected click the "OK" button to apply it

Step 6: You are now free to enter the presentation mode for the PowerPoint file, the presentation should stay as a window on the screen and not enter a full-screen mode

You have now successfully updated the PowerPoint file to not enter the full-screen display when starting the presentation. This will allow you to maintain control of what is on both your original display and any external displays during the PowerPoint.
