This walkthrough will give a step by step guide to getting started with Kaltura in Canvas. This walkthrough was designed for those who use Canvas to teach their courses. By following this guide you will enable the Kaltura "My Media" window within your Canvas course and have full access to the Kaltura suite right within Canvas. You should never have to access Kaltura resources outside of the Canvas environment.


You must complete step 1 of this walkthrough before proceeding to any additional steps. We suggest you follow the remaining steps in the order provided however you may pick and choose the remaining steps based on what is most relevant to your needs.

Step 1: You first will need to add the Kaltura "My Media" page to your Canvas course navigation menu, you must complete this first step before proceeding to any other Kaltura guides as this will provide the necessary access to Kaltura within Canvas, use the link below for specific guidance on how to add the "My Media" access

*Please note that while other tutorials might reference accessing Kaltura via the Mediaspace page you can disregard that and refer back to this "My Media" navigation menu within Canvas to access the complete Kaltura suite, Though your "My Media" menu will show you all of your content please know that when a student or other member of your Canvas course uses the "My Media" link they will be taken to their specific Kaltura account and relevant content, this "My Media" link does not provide them access to your content

Step 4: Below you will see a link to our support solution for accessing and managing Kaltura media, this would include the specific Kaltura Capture recordings you create as well as any additional media you choose to house within Kaltura, this support solution will show you how to effectively access and manage that content

Step 5: Now that you have created and/or uploaded content to your Kaltura account you may want to make some edits to that media to further streamline the content and give it a more polished look, you may refer to the link below for additional tutorials on how to access and use the Kaltura editor

Step 6: With various content now available in your Kaltura account you may need to share this content within your Canvas course, to do this you will want to embed the media within a course element (announcement, assignment, page, etc.), to do this simply follow the steps provided in the support solution linked below
