This support solution will walk you through how to use the Target Audience feature in Google Drive to share content within the broad Law School community. 

The target audience feature allows you to share Google Drive content and folders with a broader collection of users rather than having to identify and add all the specific users or Google Groups individually. This will allow you to share content with all users associated with the Law School while still restricting access to other departments across the university and the general public.

Step 1: Find the file or folder you are looking to share within your Google Drive 

Step 2: Open that file as if you were going to view or edit it

*Note: for folders simply right-click on a folder and select the "Share" option from that menu to access the sharing settings for the folder

Step 3: Click the "Share" button in the top right corner to access the sharing settings

Step 4: In the window that appears click on the "Get link" title to access the link-sharing settings

Step 5: Click on the "Restricted" drop-down and select the "School of Law" option

*Note: this will update the link-sharing settings so all Wake Forest University School of Law faculty, staff, and students will be able to view this content via the URL, no other users outside of the Law School will be able to access it

Step 6: By default all Law School users will have "Viewer" access, you may adjust this to give them "Commenter" or "Editor" access using the drop-down to the right of the targeted audience

*Note: you may still choose to give individual users or groups elevated access to the content or folder using the traditional method of entering their email in the "Share with people and groups" menu above

Step 7: Click the "Copy link" button to copy the URL you may share with Law School faculty, staff, and students so they may access this specific content

*Note: You can always navigate back to this sharing menu to copy the URL

Step 8: Share the link in whatever method best fits your needs, email, posted on a website, etc. though other users may have access to that URL only Wake Forest Law users can log in to view the content
