This support solution will provide additional guidance on how to use the Course Import Tool to copy over specific content rather than an entire course. If you have not yet reviewed the initial steps of how to start a course import please see our Canvas: Importing course content support solution before continuing.
When you choose the option to Select specific content during your import step, you will need to select which content to import. Once your import has been started, the Current Jobs menu displays the job status of any imports in process, as well as any prior import history.
Step 1: In the import settings window select the Select specific content option to choose which items to copy over
Step 2 [Optional]: If you would like to adjust the course events and dues dates during the import please move to our Canvas: Adjusting course event and due dates during course import support solution
Step 3: Click Import
Step 4: Click on the Select Content button in the Current Jobs menu
Step 5: Use the checkboxes to select the content you wish to import and click Select Content when ready to start the copy
*Note: If you used the Zoom Tool in Canvas for your previous course, make sure you uncheck "Calendar Events" so that the old Zoom calendar items are not imported into your course.
Step 6: Once you have started an import, the Current Jobs menu displays the job status of any imports in process, as well as any prior import history
Step 7: Once your content import has been completed we urge you to review our Canvas: Refreshing imported content support solution for additional guidance and best practices for preparing this content for the upcoming semester
You have now successfully imported select course content from a previously taught course into an existing course. If you encountered issues or have any questions about this process you can reach out to the Law School IT Department at lawhelp@wfu.edu or 336-758-4300.
