These requirements apply to all students enrolled in the Master of Legal Studies (MLS), Master of Studies in Law (MSL), and Graduate Certificates (CERT) programs as of August 2026. Computer requirements are reviewed and updated annually in April. Please note that there are separate computer requirements for residential (JD, LLM, and SJD) programs.
Minimum Requirements
Students are required to have access to a laptop or desktop computer that meets the following requirements:

Windows 11, version 25H2 — recommended
Windows 11, version 24H2 — supported
Windows 11, version 23H2 — supported
While it may be possible to complete much of your coursework with a tablet or other mobile device, only laptop or desktop computers that meet the minimum requirements are officially supported.

Computer Purchases
While students may use any computer which meets the minimum requirements, students who plan to purchase a new computer may be eligible for educational pricing from Apple and Lenovo. Learn more at wfu.law/computer-discounts.
Available Software
The following software is available to law students while enrolled at Wake Forest University.
Microsoft 365
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft applications.
Adobe Creative Cloud
Adobe Acrobat (for creating and editing PDF documents) and other Adobe applications.
Google Drive for Desktop
Cloud storage provided to all Wake Forest University students. We strongly recommend installing Google Drive for Desktop to synchronize files between your computer and Google Drive and help protect against data loss.
